This Cristina Ferrández work is part of the Giant Steps series, a work in progress which she developed between 2011 and 2016 based on Walter Benjamin’s thesis on inexorable progress and the uncertainty of the future, which this enthusiastic artist from Alicante symbolises with the loss of natural paradises. Her photographs are the outcome of crosswise synergies within AlNorte Contemporary Art Week, and they are fed on visual documents captured in landscapes related to the shut-down or abandonment of large infrastructures. They are a post-traumatic view which break with the idea of territory amidst ruins, mist and disturbing facts which include certain dreamlike elements.
