Huete, Julia
(Ourense, 1990)
Julia Huete was trained in the Fine Arts Faculty of Pontevedra, and she stayed in Oporto and Guadalajara (Jalisco, Mexico) before furthering her training with a Master’s in Art Direction in Advertising from the same faculty. She won a grant from the Academy of Spain in Rome in the speciality of comics (2018–2019), as well as the Community of Madrid Prize at the 2019 ESTAMPA fair.
Her work enquires into the connection among different disciplines, creative processes and relationships among materials. Her compositions, which are usually abstract and simple and make use of balance, primarily combine painting, sculpture, embroidery and collage.
