In recent years, Avelino Sala has been contemplating multidisciplinary visions of creative times, social discourse and transit states, creating glimpses of the fragility of the human being in its context and expression, through scenes translated as forms of resistance. At the 2012 International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid, the Asturian artist shined with this work, which consists of an installation and a photograph acquired by the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation for its contemporary art collection.

With this piece, Avelino Sala creates disturbing aesthetics, focusing on the recreation of those places of uncertainty. These are two additional examples that symbolise a cultural barricade, expressed by assembling small pieces of pottery depicting books and a photograph of several real specimens that were burned in a spectacular night-time event. Installation, reflection and interaction, with narrative and critical intentions, linked to the contemporary socio-cultural situation where this burning aims to carbonise the depiction of the literary symbol par excellence, in an ironic metaphor for ethical destruction.
