CHAMBERÍ FESTIVITIES

This year, Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson is taking part in the programme of the Carmen festivities in the Chamberí neighbourhood with activities for all audiences. The programme will take place from 12 to 16 July at the FMCMP Madrid Centre with various free activities to bring art and the work of the Foundation closer to the residents of the neighbourhood.

OPEN HOUSE AT THE FUNDACIÓN MARÍA CRISTINA MASAVEU PETERSON

12, 13 and 14 July are the last opportunity to visit The Collection of the Museu de Belles Arts, Valencia: Between Bosch and Sorolla, the temporary exhibition organised by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson and the Museu de Belles Arts, Valencia. 

The exhibition offers visitors the chance to see a selection of the most important pieces from the Museu de Belles Arts, Valencia, ranging from the Middle Ages to the contemporary world, that have never previously been displayed outside the museum. Featuring more than a hundred paintings, the show includes works by Gherardo Starnina, Joan Reixach, Joan de Joanes, Hieronymus Bosch, Maarten de Vos, Vicente Macip, Jusepe de Ribera, Rubens, the Ribalta and Benlliure families, Ignacio Pinazo, Muñoz Degraín, Joaquín Sorolla and other artists.

GUIDED TOUR AND WORKSHOP FOR FAMILIES

Little urban artists
Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 July: 11 am
Activity for families with children between ages 4 and 12 consisting of a guided tour of the Street Art Space and a creative activity.

Using a methodology based on play and team work, we will encourage participants to become street artists for the day as a way of learning about art through contemporary works.

The combined tour and workshop for families lasts approximately 90 minutes and is led by cultural mediators. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

LECTURE
Art and architecture in Chamberí
Rafael Mateu de Ros
María Cristina Masaveu Auditorium
Tuesday 16 July
7 pm

Rafael Mateu de Ros, a resident of Chamberí with a PhD in art history and a founding partner of the law firm Ramón y Cajal Abogados (also located in the neighbourhood), will give a lecture on the art and architecture in Chamberí. As well as discussing the museums and cultural foundations and institutions in the neighbourhood, he will talk about outstanding local buildings and monuments, such as palaces, mansions, churches and squares with important public sculptures.
