The Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson proposes different itineraries through the FMCMP Madrid Centre and the exhibitions on display. Aimed at families with children between the ages of 4 and 12, the activity provides participants with a learning, discovery and experimentation experience through the artists, works and plastic techniques represented in the exhibition Masaveu Collection: Twentieth-Century Spanish Art.
The itineraries are divided according to the ages of the participants (4 to 7 and 8 to 12).
The combined tour-plus-workshop for families lasts approximately 90 minutes and is led by cultural mediators. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Exploring art with all five senses
Families with children between ages 4 and 7
Winter programme: 22 March, 19 April
What are the similarities and differences between the drawings we make and the drawings made by these artists? What does a landscape smell like? What does it sound like? What materials can we use to make a sculpture?
Using a methodology based on play and team work, we will encourage the participants to become avant-garde artists for the day as a way of learning about contemporary art with all five senses.
Matter and colour: A stroll through twentieth-century Spanish art
Families with children between ages 8 and 12
Winter programme: 29 March, 26 April
What are the similarities and differences between abstract art and realist art? How is a cubist image created? What materials do artists use to create their work? What emotions do colours convey?
By examining paintings and sculptures by artists like Picasso, Miró, Sorolla, Antonio López and Tàpies, the participants will learn about some of the most important art movements of the twentieth century, including cubism, surrealism and abstraction.
After the tour, the participants will experiment in the workshop with the different techniques, colours and materials, becoming artists themselves for the day.
