This work by the Extremaduran photographer Evaristo Delgado belonged to the exhibition organised as part of PhotoEspaña 2014 entitled “El Viaje. Sendero vital” (“The Journey. Vital Path”), where a group of authors come together who had met over thirty years before at the Royal Photographic Society of Madrid. The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation acquired a set of photographs for this project. Each one presents their unique perspective of this group adventure with different natural, cultural and social scenes captured on the road between 1982 and 2012, making up a broad spectrum of contrasts in black and white.

This Manchegan village located in the northern part of Molina de Aragón is located on a hill enclosed by high mountains, and has an urban core surrounded by farmland, forests and junipers, forming an irregular topography near the Iberian System. Apart from its plain and bright atmosphere, we can see Evaristo Delgado’s interest in architecture and contrasts between nature and the human environment in rural areas, where geometry emerges in places as unexpecthttp://www.pueblos-espana.org/castilla+la+mancha/guadalajara/amayased as that of the image. The low-angle composition of an old wall and the church tower in the background with some banners blowing in the wind convey the past and the present, traditions, festivals, the religious and the profane as inseparable chronicles.
