LOPE DE VEGA, DURÁN-MASAVEU CODEX, AUTOGRAPH NOTEBOOK
On Tuesday 11 December 2012, the facsimile edition of one of Lope de Vega’s last poetic manuscripts, the Durán-Masaveu Codex, was presented at the Spanish Royal Academy (RAE). The autograph notebook belongs to the Masaveu Corporation and was co-edited by the Spanish Royal Academy and the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation.
The autograph notebook is the work of the exceptional author, who compiled it between 1629 and 1631 approximately, and which is traditionally known as the Durán-Masaveu Codex, as the former is its oldest known owner.
The following individuals took part in the ceremony:
– Víctor García de la Concha, honorary director of the Spanish Royal Academy, director of the Cervantes Institute and editor of this work.
– José Manuel Blecua, director of the Spanish Royal Academy.
– Fernando Masaveu, president of the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation and of the Masaveu Corporation.
