This work by the Basque artist Garraza was acquired for the FMCMP Art Collection at the JustMad Fair 2015 at the stand of the Gijón ATM-Altamira gallery. This work is from the series titled “The protesters” and shows a figure with his face covered and whose expressiveness is torn between anguish and violence, emulating social conflicts and posing a clear composition of a certain baroque tenebrism retouched with modern elements, such as the clothing of this character against a black background. In this and other scenes from the same thematic series, Garraza recreates stories about the global economic crisis and its consequences, marking boundaries between reality and fantasy to demand engaged and engaging observation by the somewhat uncomplacent onlooker.
