The Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson has created this programme, free of charge, within the framework of its educational activities to address the needs of the entire school community, from infants to baccalaureate students, by offering different types of visits based on two of its exhibitions: Masaveu Collection. Object and Nature: Still-Life and Flower Paintings of the 17th and 18th Centuries and Street Art Space.
After stints in Seville and Asturias, the exhibition «Masaveu Collection. Object and Nature: Still-Life and Flower Paintings of the 17th and 18th Centuries» is now on display at the Madrid headquarters of the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, featuring a large selection of some of the finest still lifes from the Baroque and Enlightenment eras. The vast majority of the paintings belong to the Masaveu Collection.
The exhibition reflects the importance and evolution of this genre through fifty works signed by some of the most outstanding artists, such as Juan van der Hamen, Alejandro de Loarte and Juan de Zurbarán. The Masaveu Collection is formed by the passion for collecting of several generations of this family of entrepreneurs, one of the most important art collections in Spain in terms of both the quality and the number of paintings.
