Sin título – Serie Creciente
TECHNICAL DATA
Author: Job Sánchez (A Coruña, 1979)
Title: Untitled
Year: 2019
Technique: cut out and folded cardboard pasted to cotton paper
Size: 100 x 70 x 14 cm
Serie: Creciente (Waxing)
This work is part of the Waxing series, which in turn is part of a broader project by the artist called Household Laboratory. It is an open, multidisciplinary project that runs parallel to Sánchez’s post-doctoral research, which focuses on analysing art as a language and is unfolding via painting, sculpture, collage and digital drawing.
In the specific case of Waxing, whose title alludes to the lunar cycles, Sánchez starts with the circle as a modular element. The circle is then cut, folded, divided and rotated to open or close, thus occupying the space allowed by its area, always in connection with the wall. As the author states, the clear intentionality is “showing that this series of pieces is the outcome of an artistic experimentation connected to the practice of painting”.
This piece was acquired at the Espacio Líquido gallery stand at the Just Mad fair in 2019.
