Acquired by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson at the stand of García Galería during the 2020 edition of ARCO, in this piece Pepe Espaliú rethinks the whole concept of sculpture. Mounted on the wall and occupying the space in a different way to a traditional sculpture, it brings to mind the weight of a burden—a metal ball of the type dragged along by those subjected to forced labour—that is not quite pulled taut by a rope that also seems to reference a noose. The top of the sculpture suggests the head of the hanged man.
